Illawarra and Shoalhaven residents can rest assured that their Councils are not going to dump their recycling programs despite China’s decision to stop accepting Australian recyclable items each year.
Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) are facilities that are open year round where you can drop off problem household wastes for free!
At your local CRC you can drop off items that can’t be recycled through your kerbside collection, like paint, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, computers and televisions, fluoro globes and tubes,...
Visual audits of kerbside bulky waste across the region provided some great data to support our research and development into reprocessing. The Southern Region Waste Program is a partner of the Zero Waste Network and we actively promote the reuse of items.
February has seen some great partnership projects being rolled out under our Regional Litter Program. An anti-litter chalk art trail was installed along the harbour walking track in Wollongong. A total of 6 artworks were commissioned for the art trail.
