Regional Procurement

Procurement has been increasingly acknowledged in both the public and private sectors as a vital strategic tool to reduce costs and improve performance outcomes.  NSW Councils spend more than $7 billion through procurement each year on the goods and services needed to support council operations.

Given the scale of procurement activity, the ISJO has recognised there are significant opportunities available to raise the profile, capability and performance of council procurement in the region.

The ISJO collaborates with its four member councils to progress best practice in procurement for councils in the region by building councils’ capability and capacity through training, and conducting joint procurement activities.

The ISJO Procurement Program also works closely with other ISJO programs and state agencies to procure services identified as priority projects for the region.
