The Illawarra District Weeds Authority (IDWA) is the local weed control authority for the area of southern NSW, Australia covered by the local government areas of Wollongong City, Shellharbour City and Kiama Municipal Council.
As announced by the Illawarra Shoalhaven Joint Organisation’s (ISJO) Chair Cr Gordon Bradbery earlier this week, an internal review of the proposed aerial spraying of bitou bush infestations on five sites across the Illawarra, as identified by the Illawarra District Weeds Authority (IDWA), has been undertaken.
In response to feedback from the Illawarra community over the past few days, Illawarra Shoalhaven Joint Organisation’s (ISJO) Chair Cr Gordon Bradbery has advised “I have requested a complete review to be undertaken of the proposed aerial spraying with RoundUp across targeted Illawarra sites by the Illawarra District Weeds Authority...
Weed Spotters are only being asked to look for and report State prohibited weeds. This does not include common and wide spread weeds like, blackberry, lantana, Giant Parramatta grass or Bitou bush even if they are new to your part of the Illawarra region.
